Let’s be honest: in a perfect world your team would automatically sell retail and achieve their goals because it’s part of their job. Well, as we all know, it’s not always that easy.
It can often be challenging to keep your team motivated to sale take home care products. One great way to increase your salon/spas retail sales is to keep your team motivated.
Employee motivation must be promoted on a day-to-day, month-to-month basis. One powerful way to keep your team motivated is to make retailing fun and provide them with an incentives. After all, who doesn’t like a little friendly competition?
Keep a few things in mind when you set up your sales contest:
- Make sure you set realistic goals for the contest. Having a sales contest that is perceived as unattainable will only decrease your teams engagement.
- You don’t always have to give away the “farm.” Having a sales contests doesn’t mean you have to put a lot of money into your contest to make it worthwhile or interesting for your team.
- It’s important to change your overall goal for each contest. Don’t simply say the team member that sells the most wins. Changing your goal will engage all team members. Try to think of things like most improved sales, most SKU’s sold, most of a particular product sold, etc. The overall goal is to make it interesting for all team members!
- Keep results posted and visible on a daily basis. Help be their personal cheerleader providing them encouragement.
There are many ways to keep your team motivated to keep them engaged and interested in increase retail sales. Be creative and (most importantly) have fun!
