During this time of isolation, how do we stay connected to our team, our clients, and those who matter most to us?

Thankfully, technology has allowed us with an abundance of solutions. From phone calls, to FaceTime, to Zoom video chats, to social media, there are so many things to take advantage of at the moment.

Right now, it’s critical that we keep our team engaged, growing and connected; it’s important that we let our clients know we’re there for them; and it’s essential that we prepare for a powerful return to the salon.

Team Connection

1) ZOOM CALLS

These can be used to host team meetings and get in touch with each other each week. Check in with each other and see what everyone is doing to educate themselves and talk about ideas for what you can do when you open the salon back up.

2) START A BOOK CLUB

A creative way to bond with your team and an opportunity to educate yourselves with personal growth books or books that will enhance your mood. Here’s a few examples:

You Are A Badass by Jen Sincero
Everything is Figureoutable by Marie Forleo
Girl Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis
The 5 Second Rule by Mel Robbins
The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman

3) BRAINSTORMING SESSIONS

This is something you can do over Zoom and have everyone come ready with ideas on what you should be marketing when you go back to work and talk about what needs an update. What are some things that need attention in your salon? Check in with everyone and listen to what they have to say.

4.) INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEOS

How is your team educating themselves while at home? This is a great time for everyone to watch a video and share what they’ve learned with the team. Maybe even have your team practice what they’ve learned, snap a before and after shot and post it to social media for clients to see!

Client Connection

1) SEND OUT EMAILS

This is a great way to keep clients updated on what will be going on when you open back up, any promotions that are going on, and just letting them know that you’re there if they have any questions about anything.

2) SEND PERSONAL NOTES

These are for when you want to reach out to your top clients or new clients maybe by sending them some samples or just letting them know you miss them. Sending mail is something we don’t often see so in this time of isolation it’s a great way to brighten someone’s day.

3) CREATE HOW-TO VIDEOS

Showing clients how they can do their hair, skin, nails at home and teach them professional tips and tricks that you know they would love to know.

4) CONNECT ON SOCIAL MEDIA

Social is the hub of connection these days. It’s a fun way to connect on a different level. Maybe doing a virtual tour of the salon could be one day and the next could be a product giveaway with an exciting announcement on Facebook Live. This is a great way to keep up the engagement.

5) TEXT & PHONE CALLS

Some personal check ins could be a short text or phone call to see how they’re doing and if they want to schedule any appointments for the opening.

6. PRE-SELL

Promoting gift cards is something a lot of businesses are taking on, especially small business owners. This is a way for your clients to support you during these times.

Lastly, what can you and your team do to support your community?

There are so many who are putting their lives at risk to serve us during these times such as medical professionals, mail carriers, grocery store clerks, etc. that are being put in extremely dangerous situations in order to make us safe. It’s important that we serve our community and give back to those who impact our lives every day.

Some great ideas from those who were live with us on this training:

  • Product donations
  • Clients can purchase a gift card and choose to donate to those in need
  • Drive in lunches for those out of work
  • Reach out to your distributors for some free samples to create care packages for medical professionals
  • Sewing masks for your local hospital or those who need it
