Fun Equals Success
There’s a lot of talk about work-life balance and job satisfaction, but there’s one thing that many owners, managers, team leaders and even coaches forget about… FUN!
Now, I know that the traditional business model says that work isn’t supposed to be fun . The fact of the matter is that the statement couldn’t be further from the truth.
Research shows us that employees who have fun while working are happier, more productive and are more loyal. Furthermore, I personally have found that creating a fun workplace encourages team creativity . I don’t know about you, but anytime I can boost the level of creativity among my team, I’m on board. And when team members are having fun it helps build a stronger sense of the true meaning of team; it builds camaraderie.
You see, the formula is quite simple.
When our team is having fun, they look forward to coming to work, and we will have a more successful business. It’s a win-win-win.
- Our salon/spa guests win , because they love coming to a salon/spa for their services where the energy is upbeat and team members are happy and engaged.
- The team wins , because who doesn’t want to have fun while they’re working.
- And the salon/spa wins , because a fun workplace equals increased revenues!
Now don’t get me wrong I’m not saying it can all be fun and games! However, we can integrate fun into our daily routine quite simply.
I suggest developing a “fun” committee. I recently was speaking with a friend of mine who works high-up on the traditional corporate ladder. She mentioned she recently joined their companies “fun committee.” Oh course, I had to ask, “fun committee?” A fun committee is a group of team members that volunteer their time to aid in the creating fun into a business’s day! So you see, as the owner, manager or team leader you don’t have to put another responsibility onto your full plate. Empower your team to strategize fun ways to increase the level of fun at your salon/spa.
